La Digue Island Lodge![]() An unpretentious haven of
resort life in the slow lane, La Digue Island Lodge’s setting is one of
unsurpassed tranquility and beauty. The lodge is the largest on the
island and has been built from local woods and thatch. One of its
landmarks is the ‘Yellow House’, a traditional home of colonial style
architecture built in the early 1900’s (it is now a National Heritage
monument).
AccommodationAccommodation includes beach & garden chalets, beach rondavels and suites. There are various room types including Plantation House, ‘Petit Village’ and A-frame chalets (a total of 69 rooms). Rooms have air conditioning, minibar, telephone, television, tea and coffee making facilities, bath and shower (rondavels have shower only) and hair dryer. The typical chalets are built out of takamaka wood and thatched with Latanier leaves and some have direct access to the beach. Sports, Services & Facilities
The
thatched roof restaurant on the beach is popular with guests who enjoy
a relaxed atmosphere - here you don’t even have to bother wearing shoes
to dinner! The island’s only dive shop is also here, next to the pool
and beach. The lodge is just a short walk from Anse Source D’Argent,
one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Access to La Digue is
by ferry or boat from Mahe or Praslin. Guests will enjoy the slow pace
from the moment they arrive with transfers from the jetty to the hotel
taken in ox-carts! |
